However, this thin and less dense PTFE tape creates difficulties in application. Gold Tape can be used in water, hot water, hot oil, compressed air, synthetic and mineral oils, all solvents, gases and fuel oil.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3\/5″][vc_single_image image=”3100″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Since these bands are very thin, too many layers are wrapped on the teeth to prevent them from tearing. During assembly, the tape does not peel off and provide sealing on the thread, which is its main task. It operates like a forehead gasket at the bottom point. Therefore, it is adversely affected by the movements occurring in the lines. Also, it is necessary to re-teflon due to stripping in cases that require back tour during assembly. Thanks to its high density and thickness, GOLD TAPE, whose details can be found in the appendix, is sufficient to be wrapped 2-3 turns on the tooth, and because it does not peel off during assembly and remains on the tooth, it prevents leaks and also provides a return opportunity up to 180\u00b0C. And also, since only 2-3 rounds are sufficient, the consumption will decrease. GOLD TAPE is much more economical than standard tapes. What is PTFE Tape?<\/b><\/p>\n

PTFE tape, also known as plumber’s tape, is a polytetrafluoroethylene film formed into a tape.\u00a0It is an excellent lubricant and can be used to tighten the gasket in a pipe. Therefore, it is very useful in plumbing applications.\u00a0Instead of risking breaking the thread on the joint by tightening the nut too much, putting some PTFE tape before tightening the nut will give you a much better seal while protecting the thread. \u00a0 PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene, is one of the most widely used industrial coating solutions and has a number of properties that make it an ideal choice for this purpose.\u00a0However, there are various other uses of PTFE to provide a viable solution to problems encountered in both industry and homes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What Does PTFE Tape Do?<\/b><\/p>\n

PTFE tape is more commonly known as threaded sealing tape or plumber’s tape and, as the name suggests, is primarily used by plumbers to help seal the thread in pipes when connecting with a threaded connection. There are two main reasons for using PTFE tape on plumbing connections: reducing the possibility of leakage and providing better lubrication for the connecting thread. When PTFE tape is applied to a joint, the tape helps create a much tighter seal on the thread, which helps prevent any leakage from the joint.\u00a0Besides, the fact that PTFE is hydrophobic means it also repels water, which can have the added benefit of stopping water from getting through the seal. Also, because PTFE has an extremely low coefficient of friction, it means that the surface friction on the joint is greatly reduced.\u00a0This not only makes it easier to screw the joint as tight as possible, but also helps prevent leaks.\u00a0 It makes it much simpler to disassemble the joint further down the line if needed. It is very important that the connection parts where PTFE tape will be applied are clean and dry. It is imperative that the parts be dried with a dry cloth before the connection is made. Teflon tape application on the threads of the fittings should be done clockwise. In the first round, the adhesive PTFE tape should be rolled flat without stretching. In the next rounds, it should be broken after the winding is done tightly enough. At this stage, it should be ensured that the adhesive of the tape is fixed on the connection piece. Then the pipes and parts should be mounted together and it should be made sure that it is tightened well.\u00a0 Natural gas PTFE tape application on natural gas pipes should be completed by performing sufficient turns on the first layer, which is also adhered clockwise. It is very important to ensure that Teflon tape is applied in natural gas pipes, which is sufficient to completely fill the pipe connections during application.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How Does PTFE Tape Operate?<\/b><\/p>\n

Adhesive PTFE tapes are the products used by wrapping on the female joint points of the pipes while connecting the valves, water pipes and faucet apparatus. There is a right and a wrong way to use PTFE tape.\u00a0The right way is to wrap it clockwise around the connecting thread.\u00a0The easiest way to remember which way to wrap the tape is to hold the pipe in your left hand and apply the tape with your right hand.\u00a0Wrap the tape over the thread\/tap or anything else you use and unroll the tape away from your body.\u00a0If you’re left-handed, do it the other way around. That is, hold the pipe with your right hand and open the tape towards your body.\u00a0This means that when you tighten the nut, the band will tighten in the right direction and will not become loose.\u00a0It is sufficient to wrap the PTFE tape around the joint three times. Otherwise, you risk overloading the thread with tape.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the Advantages of PTFE Tape?<\/b><\/p>\n

By using PTFE tapes, it is possible to prevent water leaks and plumbing failures. Thanks to the safe use of natural gas PTFE tape types at natural gas pipe connection points, it is possible to prevent gas leaks. Heat-resistant PTFE tape types are at the forefront as connection tools that can be used safely at the connection points in hot water installations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where is PTFE Tape Used?<\/b><\/p>\n

PTFE tapes can be used safely and easily in the connections of hot and cold water pipes, natural gas installations, fittings, water installation of washing machines and dishwashers, and connection of sink drain pipes. While determining the amount of tape to be used during the assembly process, the width, structure and purpose of use of the connection pipes and equipment are evaluated. During use, PTFE tapes must not be over-stretched during the first winding and must be wound clockwise. Subsequent rounds must also be wound clockwise and stretched. An average of three turns of winding is usually sufficient to ensure tightness in pipe and plumbing connections. The application of Teflon tape at all pipe connection points is an effective method to ensure installation safety. It is possible to use PTFE tapes safely in pipes and fittings designed for hot water passage. Heat-resistant PTFE tapes can also be used by wrapping clockwise on suitable fittings. If the PTFE tape is not wound clockwise, it may be dislodged during assembly. Therefore, maximum attention should be paid to the winding direction and tightness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the Features of PTFE Tape?<\/b><\/p>\n

There are various types of PTFE tapes depending on the need.\u00a0The most used colors in plumbing projects or applications are white.\u00a0Another available variety is yellow used in gas pipelines and fuel lines, pink used in drinking water and green for medical purposes, especially oxygen lines, etc.\u00a0 PTFE tapes are not very reactive, partly due to the strength of the carbon-fluorine bonds, and are therefore a material often used for corrosive and reactive chemicals in containers and pipes.\u00a0 When used as a lubricant, PTFE has low friction, wear and energy consumption in machinery. There are many uses of PTFE tape here. PTFE Tape is waxed. It is therefore primarily used for plumbing and electronics.\u00a0They can also be used to fix coils, insulation and threads. PTFE tape is designed to cover the threads of plumbing components and create a tighter seal.\u00a0Using PTFE tape in any plumbing repair involving threaded pipes ensures good workmanship. PTFE tapes aim to provide a better seal between plumbing parts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What are the Uses of PTFE Tape?<\/b><\/p>\n

PTFE tape can be used wherever there is a compression joint between two sections of pipe.\u00a0While the compression joints in the new piping are fine without the PTFE tape, the old piping is more likely to leak when something is moved, i.e. when you replace a radiator.\u00a0Therefore, PTFE tape is widely used in the assembly of faucets and radiators.\u00a0Using PTFE tape as well as a thin coat of plumber’s grout will provide a nice seal and prevent leaks. Commercially, PTFE tape is used in radiators, water pressure systems or hydraulic applications, air compressors, central heating equipment and the like.\u00a0These threaded seal strips are also preferred for duct application works.\u00a0It can often be used for threaded pipe connections that need to have a built-in rubber gasket to secure it more effectively during installation work or plumbing projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
